So many possibilities in the case that made the juror felt something is not right. All evidence was presented in the court yet so many flaws in the investigation and both sides (prosecutor and defence) did not do their job properly. Probably because this movie is just to focus on how the juror reaches their verdict. The movie also shows us if there is a confession made (itupun dapat after patient sedar from a brain haemorrhage surgery), there will be slack in running the crime investigation and also the whole prosecution procedure. They found a murder weapon yet could not prove if it is used. No blood trace on the murder weapon. They did not investigate the crime scene properly and solely depend on the witnesses' statement. There are other possibilities that the juror point out to the judges (which I laugh a bit because they all should become defence team instead of becoming juror).

Plot

It's the story of South Korea’s first trial by jury in 2008. It follows the case of a son brutally murdering his mother, with all factors seeming to point to a guilty ruling. However, the trial does not go as smoothly as expected. The eighth juror, young entrepreneur Kwon Nam Woo questions the defendant’s self-declaration of guilt. As a result, the judge calls for a new debate to establish a guilty or not guilty verdict. Kim Joon Gyum is the presiding judge who leads the first civil participation of a criminal trial in South Korea. The jury consists of 8 ordinary people with different ages and personality. Jurors: n.1 Yoon Geu Rim, a late law student, n.2 Yang Choon Ok, a nursing home caretaker, n.3 Jo Jin Shik, an unknown actor more concerned with his daily wage than the trial, n.4 Byun Sang Mi, a full-time housewife, n.5 Choi Yeong Jae, a chief secretary of a large corporation, n.6 Jang Ki Baek, unemployed, n.7 Oh Soo Jung, a job seeker, n.8 Kwon Nam Woo, an entrepreneur. This group forms a microcosm of society, and the way in which they are swayed by the majority opinion provides further commentary on its current state. Kwon Nam Woo stands in sharp contrast to this, sifting through investigation records and backing up his doubts on the case with determination. He repeatedly questions the defendant’s self-declaration of guilt and reminds judge Kim Joon Gyum of the importance of justice. Bit by bit, he breaks down the majority opinion by pushing for a not guilty verdict. The jurors are ordinary people, but, after they become jurors, they seek out the truth of the case.

Plot

Recently divorced, Yoo-lim (Yoo Sun) now lives with her only daughter, Eun-ah (Nam Bo-ra). Upon arriving at her new school, Eun-ah is frequently picked on, though she has feelings for classmate Jo-han (Shin Dongho). One day she is brutally raped by Jo-han and his friends who threaten to upload footage of the rape online to keep her quiet. Unable to cope with the trauma she was forced to endure, Eun-ah takes her own life. As all of the boys involved in the rape are still minors, the law is helpless to prosecute them to the fullest extent possible, and they walk away with little more than a slap on the wrist. Despite the police detective Oh's attempts to appease her, Yoo lim was still filled with frustration and anger. Hence, You-lim then sets out to make the boys' lives a living hell. She was about to kill Jo-han first but when he lied that it was his friend's plan to rape Eun-ah ,she went ahead to brutally murder the two Jo-han mentioned. When Yoo-lim realised that it was Jo-han who was behind all of this, she entered his school and attempts to kill him, but police detective Oh, investigating Eun-ah's death rushes over to stop her. When confronted, Yoo-lim, having had enough of all she had to go through, makes an attempt to deliver the fatal blow , forcing detective Oh to shoot her with his gun, killing her.

Cerita ni solely about that guy, Yang Soon-Ho working as a lawyer at a big private firm. He had his own past as an NGO lawyer before dia join a private firm. Boss dia assigned him a pro-bono case, about a housekeeper is charged with homicide. The sole witness of the case is an autistic spectrum disorder teenager, who lived near to the crime scene. This movie basically taught us briefly about autism child, their inability and also their special ability. Other than that, this movie also taught us to always seek truth and fight for justice. As a lawyer, you are bounded with your client's confidentiality. It's up to you whether you want to unveil the truth or not. Evidence is there. And the autism girl tu DAEBAK. Korng kena tengoklah sampai habis.

Aku bagi rating 7/10 sebab prosecutor dalam court tu lemah sangat. Too inexperience and tak pandai handle situation. Tak pandai nak examine or backup witness pun !

There are many Korean drama and movies regarding powerful prosecutor who managed to handle the case professionally and smooth, unlike in this movie, sadly. If not because of Yang Soon-Ho (the defence team), the autism girl probably forever left with stigma in her life and the real murderer left freely.
